As of noon, March 17th the Iowa State Governor, Kim Reynolds, put into executive order that all spiritual and religious gatherings (along with other social gatherings) of more than 10 people be cancelled or postponed. The order is currently set in place until 11:59 pm March 31st.
We will be honoring this executive order as we strive to do our due diligence in helping the cause of health and safety.
With this in mind we feel very strongly about fulfilling our role as a church during this time. We believe we must continue our role in the following areas: Spiritual feeding, community outreach, prayer, and fellowship.
Spiritual Feeding: We will be meeting with the song director, instrumentalist, and pastor and we will be recording full services and putting them on DVD. Please go to the link above to sign-up for free delivery of a song book, church bulletin, offering envelope, and DVD. We will have DVD's for Sunday Morning, Sunday Evening, and Wednesday Evening Bible Study. We encourage each of you to keep the routine of time. Sunday morning 10:30, Sunday evening 6:00, and Wednesday evening 7:00.
Community Outreach: We will be offering free delivery of the DVD's of our services for anyone in the community. Simply follow the link above to sign up. We are excited about helping people with these DVD's during this difficult time. Feel free to invite anyone you know to sign up for this opportunity.
Prayer: Each church family will be given a 15 minute time slot beginning at 4:30 Sunday afternoon. These are groups of 10 or less and there will be diligent cleaning often throughout the evening. We believe strongly that the answer is in God's people humbly asking for help and hope during this time. Please take advantage of this opportunity! I am looking forward to bowing before God as a family and understanding that our true hope is in God.
Fellowship: Though we cannot fellowship as a church body, we still wish to keep some sense of fellowship as a church family. One person will be assigned to the same deliveries each week. This person will spend some time in fellowship and prayer with those on their route while practicing social distancing. This person will then report back to pastor Gibson any information that should be passed on. We are also encouraging the time of prayer for this cause. Prayer and fellowship, though for a short time, will be extremely important in keeping our spirit of unity.
On the bright side - Think how great is going to be when we get to come back together! I think I already smell a Family Reunion Potluck!
Each church family will be hearing from someone in the church about your time of DVD delivery. Thank you for your understanding during these trying times.
